Development in question: The feminist perspective.
Feminist thought has expressed forceful criticism of the economistic and reductionist idea of development that sidelines social equity and individual and collective wellbeing as the economy’s ultimate objectives. One of feminism’s main contributions is its analysis of the crisis in the social organization of care. This chapter follows the path of feminist thinking about the economy, work and gender equity that led to the concept of care as a social right and an issue of social development.
